This policy explains what information the Tarikh Android app ("Tarikh", "we", "our") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Tarikh is a Gujarati calendar and personal-assistant app that shows daily Panchang (tithi, nakshatra, choghadiya), Gujarati festivals and holidays, and lets you manage your own events and tasks with the help of an AI chat assistant.
Account information. When you create a Tarikh account we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
Calendar data you create. Events and tasks you add — title, date, time, location, and notes — are stored so they can sync back to your account.
AI chat messages. When you use the AI assistant to create or ask about events (e.g. "kal 5 baje meeting"), that message is sent to our server, forwarded to Google's Gemini API to interpret it, and the resulting event details are saved to your account. We keep a log of these chats to improve the assistant and for troubleshooting.
App preferences. Settings such as language, theme, and notification preference.
Panchang, festival, and holiday data (tithi, nakshatra, choghadiya, festival/holiday dates) is general astronomical and calendar information, not personal data, and is the same for every user of a given date.
We do not use your personal data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
Tarikh's AI assistant is powered by the Google Gemini API. Only the text of your chat message (needed to understand the event you're describing) is sent to Google for processing — not your name, email, or other account details. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use any other third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in Tarikh.
Your data is stored on our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, with passwords hashed and access to the database restricted to the app's own backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information.
We keep your account and calendar data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and all associated data deleted, email us at the address below and we will delete it within a reasonable time.
Tarikh is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as Tarikh adds new features. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
